Driscoll Hall, Villanova University

Driscoll Hall, Villanova University
Villanova, PA

Driscoll Hall, the College of Nursing’s new facility, replaced the former school of nursing, and was the Villanova’s first LEED-designed building, earning the Gold certification.

The University engaged TBS to provide the professional services required to perform a technical review of the exterior envelope components, shop drawing review, site visits, and field reports during the execution of work.

The entire project team (Facilities Management, architects, engineers, construction managers) worked to ensure that the final building would operate extremely efficiently and be constructed using regionally produced products, with some containing recycled content. More than 90% of the construction debris was recycled and diverted from landfills.

The building contains a white, reflective roof membrane to reduce daytime heat accumulation and nighttime radiation of heat into the atmosphere. It also incorporates a high-efficiency HVAC system, light fixtures with daylight sensors, and plumbing fixtures that reduce water consumption. The exterior is composed of brick cladding with Pennsylvania fieldstone components.
