The Science and Biology Buildings, which opened in 2000, consist of steep-sloped shingle roofs and low-slope membrane roof areas. TBS Services, Inc. was engaged by the College to investigate the failure of the slate shingle system as well as the ongoing water infiltration which was being experienced since the buildings opening due to deficiencies within the steep-slope slate shingle and the low-slope roof systems, parapets and masonry wall systems. In addition TBS teamed with Trefz Engineering Inc. to assess the condition of the existing roof top duct work to be included within the scope of the remedial work.
TBS provided design, bidding and construction administration services for the replacement of all roof systems and miscellaneous exterior repairs at the masonry walls at the Science and Biology Buildings to provide a serviceable, water-tight system which would meet the 30 year life expectancy as requested by the College.
